We will have a lovely group of writers from the Somos Xicanas Anthology

Join Women Who Submit members for an open mic, featuring Toni Ann Johnson. At the Pop Hop in Highland Park. 1:00-3:00pm

North East LA (NELA) mercado will take York Blvd will be closed to traffic

12:00-8:00 pm and there will be vendors, food, and performances on stage. I will read poetry at 2:30pm. Yey!

Cal State LA dreamers is putting on a week of events, Stories Without Borders and I am honored to join my Alegría Publishing family to share some writing prompts and poetry.

I’ll be with my fellow writers from the Somos Xicanas anthology 9/13/25 at the Santa Barbara Public Library, in the Faulkner Gallery as part of their Raices y Sueños event.

I will also be at Lit Crawl in San Francisco 10/25/25.

Que Me Cuentas presents Cuentos En la Cantina, storytelling and open mic show

Hosted by my amigo Jaime Mayorquin and me at La Bufadora Bar, a fairly new spot in Boyle Heights with craft beers and cocktails, they have so many great events, especially Karaoke.

We will have some featured storytellers and a chance for YOU to tell a cuento too.

Join us for PUBLISHED! Reading and Celebration! Thanks to a grant from the California Arts Council this reading will feature 10 WWS writers who have been published in the last year.

As you may know lots of spaces have lost funding and Women Who Submit has created so many resources and opportunities for those of us trying to navigate the publishing spaces that does not always welcome us. Come support a great organization. I am honored to be included in this event. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Somos Xicanas at Casita Bookstore in Long Beach, CA

We super appreciate the local bookstores that open their doors to us to let us share our work in these trying times. We will share our work and have books for sale too. This is one of my favorite bookstores and they have a great selection of books and cafecito too.

The rest of the time we have members share their work at the wonderful Pophop in Highland Park

I am happy to return as alumni to UCR, Palm Desert where I got my MFA in creative writing last June. I will be teaching a workshop on literary citizenship. I know that we are all struggling with how to fight back against the continual attack on our communities, and the only way I know how is to stay connected to people, to reach out and to build.

Four writers, with roots in South East LA will be sharing their poetry. We all grew up in the neighborhood and we found our way to writing. These are writers I admire greatly because they forged a path for me to follow. They all have amazing work. You can check out their websites by clicking on their names
